Illinois Watches
The Illinois Springfield Watch Company was founded by a person named John T. Stuart in the early 1870 in USA. Stuart had four partners named John C. Adams, John Williams, William B. Miller, John W. Bunn, George Black and George Passfield, who contributed in the construction of the company. In 1872, the company manufactured its first watch named “Stuart”. The company produced many watches of varying qualities. These watches were key wind and key set but were very popular. Later they produced there accurate and fin watches like “Bunn Special”. In 1879, the company was renamed to Springfield Illinois Watch Company. In 1885, the company name was again changed to Illinois Watch Company.
In the late 20’s, the company was sold to Hamilton Watch Company. Illinois factory produced watches for Hamilton until 1932. 1932 was the last year when the true Illinois were made. In the later years, Illinois watches were produced in Hamilton factories.
Today, Hamilton is manufacturing accurate and durable watches, which are very popular almost all over the world. Some of Illinois watches are described below.
Vintage Illinois Automatic Model A
This watch has a beautiful look and is in a classical design. This watch is being made since 1953. It has automatic mechanical movement with 17 jewels. It keeps great and accurate time. Its case contains 10k gold. It is 41mm in length and measures 32mm across the face without the crown. It has a fine black leather strap.
Vintage Illinois Mate Special Model H
This is a classical watch with style. It has mechanical movement. It measures 37mm long and 31mm wide. It is a very durable and comfortable watch. It displays seconds in a separate chronograph made at 6 o’clock. Its movement is very accurate due to which, it gives perfect time. It comes with a black leather strap.
Vintage Illinois 605
Illinois 605 is also a classic wrist watch. It has 15 jewels Illinois 605 mechanical movement, which keeps great time. Its case is made of 14k solid gold. It measures 36mm long and 26mm across the face without the crown. It has a black leather strap.
This watch is said diamond due to its unlimited popularity.
Illinois Watch Company has a great name in the field of watches. Their most watches are classical in designs. The original Illinois watches were produced until 1932, as described above. Then Hamilton Watches purchased the company and he gave his name to Illinois watches. Hence the original Illinois watches are few ones, but are still being used worldwide.
